**Note:** NATS monitoring (port 8222) is bound to `127.0.0.1` by default for security. When running multiple nodes on the same machine, only the first node can bind this port — nodes 2 and 3 will fail to start NATS. To fix this, edit each node's `nats.conf` to either bind monitoring to the node's unique IP or disable it:

This only applies to simulated mode — real multi-server deployments have one node per machine with no port conflict.
