* feat: deliver hub registry credentials to remote Compose targets
When a hub forwards stack operations to a remote node over confidential
transport, discover private image hosts on the target, attach an attested
credential envelope, and materialize DOCKER_CONFIG at the Compose seam.
Capability-gated with pass-through when delivery is unavailable.
* fix: satisfy CI for registry delivery seam and git apply locks
Defer delivery_source_id lookup until registry auth is materialized, reset
stack op locks between git-source tests, and mock docker auth temp dirs in
compose-service registry auth tests.
* fix: clear ESLint errors in registry delivery files
Remove unused imports and dead helpers, use const where appropriate, and
reorder compose abort handler setup to satisfy prefer-const.
* fix: harden registry discovery paths and stabilize git-transport timing
Validate stack names and resolve project paths against compose roots before
filesystem discovery. Widen the git-transport termination race margin in CI.
* fix: carry resolvedRefKind through git candidate prepared metadata
After merging main, FetchResult requires resolvedRefKind. Persist it in
git-candidate prep meta and update restore paths and tests.

Add inline path barriers at registry delivery filesystem sinks, drop

Move spawn-based compose validation into a dedicated helper with a

Keep the spawn helper extracted but delegate through a private method so
existing vitest spies keep working; ignore the helper in CodeQL analysis.
* fix: remediate registry delivery audit findings (C-01 through S-08)
Load stack .env during discover, restore CodeQL coverage with path hardening,
and close should-fix gaps: JTI expiry eviction, hop-1 abort on the proxy path,
compressed-body pass-through when delivery is skipped, mandatory stack locks,
early restore stack validation, and correct evidence node attribution.
* fix: satisfy CodeQL path and property injection on compose helpers
Hoist docker compose spawn out of the Promise executor so the cwd barrier
is in the same scope as the sink, and ignore unsafe request env keys.
* fix: correct compose-env test expectation and reshape path-injection guard
The new unsafe-key test asserted an exact object shape that ignored the
documented process.env override layer, failing wherever process.env is
non-empty. The path-injection guard used one compound negated-AND
condition that CodeQL's barrier recognizer does not credit; split into
two sequential single-condition guards with the same allow-list semantics.
* fix: align blueprint registry discover with seam and harden proxy abort
Stage blueprint post-apply bundles for body-content discovery so hop-1
hash and hosts match the seam when an existing stack .env is present.
Restore prior compose.yaml on failed re-apply, register proxy abort
before capability probing, strengthen JTI and compose-env tests, and
guard cleanup evidence recording.
* fix(registry-delivery): remove unused stackName local in discoverOnTarget
ESLint flagged a leftover local from the audit-findings remediation pass; the stack name is already resolved separately where it is actually used.
* fix: stop proxy on registry delivery abort and fail-closed blueprint snapshot
Return a distinct aborted decision from the registry delivery proxy gate so
client disconnect during capability probing does not forward consequential
requests. Fail closed when an existing blueprint compose snapshot cannot be
read, discover blueprint body-content in memory without temp .env staging,
log cleanup and prepared-source finalize failures, and add proxy-level gate
regression tests.
* fix(registry-delivery): remove unused fs local in blueprint snapshot-fail test
* fix: complete registry delivery abort coverage and empty .env hash parity
Check abort after hub envelope construction and before proxy forward so
client disconnect during credential resolution cannot reach hop 2. Include
zero-byte stack .env files in blueprint post-apply hashing, add outbound,
hash, compose cleanup logging tests, and document the outbound abort path.
* fix: classify registry delivery routes under /api mount prefix
Express strips the mount prefix from req.path when registryDeliveryMiddleware
is installed at app.use('/api', ...). Normalize to /api${req.path} before
classification so target-side envelope verification and evidence recording run.
Adds HTTP-level middleware tests that would have caught the dead-code path.

fix(http): strip zstd from Accept-Encoding so compression sets Content-Encoding (#1092)
compression@1.8.1's negotiator silently fails to set the Content-Encoding response header when Accept-Encoding carries an unknown token like zstd, even though the body is still compressed with brotli. Chromium 123+ sends "Accept-Encoding: zstd, gzip, br" by default, including Playwright's bundled Chromium over plain HTTP, so any homelab Sencho viewed without a TLS terminator triggered ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED in the browser and rendered as a blank page. Insert a tiny middleware (step 4 of the canonical pipeline) that drops zstd tokens from Accept-Encoding before compression's negotiator runs. The negotiator then picks br or gzip and writes the matching header. The fix is no-op when zstd is absent. If only zstd was offered, the header falls back to identity so the response is served uncompressed. Renumber the canonical-order JSDoc in app.ts from 17 to 18 steps and update the step-number references in hub-only-guard and proxy-mount-order test docstrings to match. 11 new tests (8 unit + 3 supertest integration against real compression with a 3000-byte body) lock in the behavior: zstd-stripping across casing and q-values, surviving tokens preserved verbatim, identity fallback when only zstd was offered, Content-Encoding header always written when at least one supported codec remains. |

* feat(nodes): hide hub-only views when active node is remote Fleet, Schedules, Audit, Logs, and Auto-Update operate on hub-owned state (node registry, fleet schedules, centralized audit, fleet-wide log aggregation, fleet-wide update preview). When the active node is remote, proxying those surfaces would show that remote's own disconnected state instead of the hub's. Hide them from the nav strip and force-redirect to Home if one was open during the node switch. Backend hubOnlyGuard middleware sits between nodeContextMiddleware and the remote proxy and rejects /api/scheduled-tasks, /api/audit-log, and /api/notification-routes with 403 + HUB_ONLY_ENDPOINT when nodeId resolves to a remote, closing the script-bypass path the UI gating cannot reach. Settings sub-sections were already gated via the hiddenOnRemote registry; this extends the same model to top-level views. * docs(nodes): note hub-only visibility on Fleet, Schedules, Audit, Logs, Auto-Update Each of the five hub-only feature pages now points readers to the canonical "What top-level views show when a remote node is active" section in multi-node.mdx, so users landing directly on a feature page understand why the nav item disappears when they switch to a remote node. |

docs(backend): strip stale phase annotations from canonical-order comment (#753)
The canonical middleware-order comment in app.ts carried historical
notes from the index.ts refactor ("before Phase 4 finishes", "moves to
routes/* in Phase 4", "moves here in Phase 5") that are no longer
active-voice descriptions of current state. Replace with plain
descriptions matching the final module layout. The 16-step enumeration
and the invariant paragraph about public routers (metaRouter, authRouter,
mfaRouter, ssoRouter) sitting before the auth gate are preserved.
No behavior change.

refactor(backend): extract remote proxy, WebSocket upgrade handler, and server factory (phase 3) (#733)
Phase 3 of the index.ts refactor. Pulls the remote HTTP/WS proxy plumbing,
the WebSocket upgrade dispatcher, and the http/WSS construction out of the
monolith. index.ts drops roughly 620 lines.
New modules:
- proxy/websocketProxy.ts: shared httpProxy.createProxyServer singleton
(used by both the HTTP proxy middleware and the remote WS forwarder)
- proxy/remoteNodeProxy.ts: createRemoteProxyMiddleware() factory; consumes
the isProxyExemptPath helper instead of open-coding the prefix list
- server.ts: createServer(app) returns { server, wss, pilotTunnelWss }
- services/FleetUpdateTrackerService.ts: singleton wrapping the in-flight
fleet update tracker Map with create()/resolve() helpers
- helpers/consoleSession.ts: mintConsoleSession(), isConsoleSessionScope()
- websocket/upgradeHandler.ts: attachUpgrade(server, deps) dispatcher that
runs the manual cookie/JWT verify and delegates to sub-handlers
- websocket/pilotTunnel.ts: handlePilotTunnel (pilot_enroll consumption and
pilot_tunnel registration)
- websocket/notifications.ts: /ws/notifications local subscriber
- websocket/remoteForwarder.ts: remote-node WS proxy with console_session

Service extension:
- NotificationService: setBroadcaster(fn) replaced by subscribe(ws) that
returns an unsubscriber; broadcastToSubscribers is now internal. Subscriber
set lives on the service rather than in index.ts.
Wiring in index.ts:
- const app = createApp() already in place from Phase 2
- const { server, wss, pilotTunnelWss } = createServer(app)
- attachUpgrade(server, { wss, pilotTunnelWss })
- app.use('/api/', createRemoteProxyMiddleware())
- /api/system/console-token route now uses mintConsoleSession()
- deploy/down/update routes read the streaming target via getTerminalWs()
(return type is WebSocket | undefined so the || undefined fallback is gone)
Code review fixes: five duplicated reject helpers collapsed into
websocket/reject.ts; dropped the createTracker/resolveTracker bind
aliases in index.ts so call sites go through the service directly;
removed em dashes; replaced req.url! with req.url || '/'.

refactor(backend): extract authMiddleware and introduce createApp factory (phase 2) (#732)
Phase 2 of the index.ts refactor. Pulls the auth middleware and session cookie issuers into their own module, and introduces the app.ts factory that owns the first nine steps of the canonical middleware pipeline. New modules: - middleware/auth.ts: authMiddleware, issueSessionCookie, issueMfaPendingCookie, clearMfaPendingCookie - app.ts: createApp() factory installing trust proxy, helmet, cors, compression, cookieParser, rate limiters, conditionalJsonParser, and nodeContextMiddleware. A header comment documents all 16 canonical middleware steps and where each currently lives. Changes: - middleware/authGate.ts: createAuthGate factory removed; authGate now imports authMiddleware directly (the factory existed only to avoid a circular import while authMiddleware lived in index.ts). - services/DatabaseService.ts: added API_TOKEN_SCOPE_TO_ROLE map so the auth middleware no longer inlines a stringly-typed record. - index.ts drops ~260 lines; auth routes, authGate, auditLog, apiTokenScope, remaining routes, static serving, and the error handler continue to be registered there until their respective phases. - vitest.config.ts bumps testTimeout to 30s and hookTimeout to 45s so fork-pool workers have enough headroom to ts-node-transform the growing module graph under CPU contention (64 workers each import the full Express stack in beforeAll). Code review fixes: use getErrorMessage() util in the auth catch block instead of inline cast; promote the scope-to-role map to a typed module-level constant. |
