Geoff Berl 376c633c62 Merge pull request #966 from gooseleggs/docker_external_router
Adding ability to run external router

This is going to need to be overhauled with the new quickstart cleanup but I think this a good feature to have as we are currently in the works of adding a function to add an external router for non-docker so this will allow the two to have similar functionality. Documentation will have to be added but that should wait until the cleanup branch is merged in since all the variables will change.

Building and Deploying the Latest Quickstart Docker Image

Build Docker Image for Local Dev (probably for docker-compose testing)

  1. change to this directory: cd quickstart/docker
  2. run the script ./buildLocalDev.sh which will create a openziti/quickstart:dev tag
  3. update .env and change the value for ZITI_VERSION to dev
  4. run docker-compose as normal
  5. If you encounter any strange errors, it's probably best to prune docker and try again. Issue docker system prune -a and allow it to clear/cleanup the entire docker world

Build Docker Image For Publication

  1. change to this directory: cd quickstart/docker
  2. set an environment variable: export ZITI_HOME=$(pwd)
  3. source the helper script: source ../ziti-cli-functions.sh
  4. cleanup the binary directory if it exists: rm -rf ./image/ziti.ignore
  5. issue this function to pull the latest ziti binaries: getLatestZiti
  6. move the ziti binaries: mv ziti-bin/ziti image/ziti.ignore/
  7. build the docker image: docker build image -t openziti/quickstart
  8. exec into a container and make sure it's the version you expect: docker run --rm -it openziti/quickstart ziti --version
  9. cleanup: rm ziti-*tar.gz; rm -rf ziti-bin

Push Docker Image to dockerhub

  1. source ./image/ziti-cli-functions.sh
  2. just run ./pushLatestDocker.sh
