/var/log/spinifex is 0775 root:spinifex so each service user can write its own log. logrotate refuses to rotate inside a group-writable directory unless the config says which user to rotate as, so every entry was skipped and the logs grew without bound. Verified on env13: before, logrotate -d reported 'skipping /var/log/spinifex/nats.log because parent directory has insecure permissions' and nothing had ever rotated. After, the debug run is clean and forced rotations produce nats.log.1 and a compressed nats.log.2.gz.
