Anso d4fa4a4965 fix(host-console): audit session lifecycle and harden path, resize, and route gating (#1263)
* fix(host-console): audit session lifecycle and harden path, resize, and route gating

Record an audit-log entry when a host console session opens and when it
closes (capturing user, node, client IP, and timestamp), so interactive
host-shell access leaves a durable, accountable trail instead of only an
ephemeral log line.

Fix a stack-path boundary check that allowed a sibling directory sharing
the base path's prefix to pass; directory resolution now uses the
canonical within-base check via a small testable helper.

Validate terminal resize frames (positive integers within a sane bound)
before forwarding them to the PTY, dropping malformed frames instead of
passing them through.

Mirror the backend admin-only console permission on the frontend route so
a non-admin who reaches the view cannot mount a console the server would
reject, and log (rather than silently swallow) a working-directory
resolution failure.

Add unit coverage for the path helper, audit open/close rows, resize
validation, and the spawn-error path, plus a WebSocket-upgrade integration
test exercising the full gate chain and a live session-open audit row.

* fix(host-console): record the node the shell actually runs in

When the requested node's directory cannot be resolved, the session falls
back to the default node's base directory. Record that fallback node in the
session audit row (and log it) so the audit trail names the node the shell
actually runs in rather than the originally requested one. Strengthen the
upgrade integration test to assert the open row captures the user, node, and
client IP.

Anso 718c1eb1ea fix(host-console): harden with security fixes, validation, and test coverage (#580)
Security:
- Enforce RBAC (system:console permission) on WebSocket upgrade
- Validate token_version for user sessions on WS connections
- Expand env var sanitization to cover additional secret patterns
(PRIVATE, AUTH, PASSPHRASE, ENCRYPT, SIGNING) and connection
  strings (REDIS_URL, MONGO_URI, AMQP_URL, DSN)

Reliability:
- Add session tracking with max 5 concurrent console sessions
- Add WebSocket heartbeat (30s ping, 60s pong timeout) to detect
and clean up dead connections and orphaned PTY processes
- Differentiate PTY spawn error messages (shell not found,
  permission denied, generic failure)
- Guard against duplicate cleanup when both WS close and PTY exit
  fire

Observability:
- Add structured logging with [HostConsole] prefix for session
lifecycle (open, close, duration, user, pid)
- Add diagnostic logging behind developer_mode for terminal resize
  events and message parse errors

Frontend:
- Replace hardcoded hex colors with oklch CSS custom properties
  (--terminal-bg, --terminal-fg, --terminal-cursor, etc.)
- Apply design system material tokens (shadow-card-bevel, recessed
well shadow, card border hierarchy, strokeWidth 1.5)

Tests:
- Add 20 tests covering env sanitization patterns (10 keyword
categories + safe vars + case insensitivity), session tracking,
and console-token RBAC (admin, viewer, deployer, API tokens)

Docs:
- Document admin role requirement and session limits
- Add troubleshooting section (session limits, shell not found,
  proxy timeouts, missing console tab)
- Update security section with expanded env var coverage

Anso 10597d213a fix(error-handling): surface silent errors across the codebase (#326)
Add console.warn/console.error logging to 22 silent catch blocks across
10 files. Errors in cleanup, migrations, SSO, fleet snapshots, shutdown,
and validation are now visible in logs. ENOENT guards added to
file-system catches to distinguish missing files from permission errors.
No control flow changes.

Anso 2d6b4c233d fix(security): pre-launch security hardening audit & remediation (#320)
- Webhook HMAC: capture raw request bytes via express.json verify callback
  instead of re-serializing with JSON.stringify
- AES-256-GCM: use NIST-recommended 12-byte IV (backward compatible with
  existing 16-byte IVs)
- Node proxy tokens: add 1-year default expiry (previously no expiry)
- Host console env filtering: pattern-based approach blocking SECRET,
PASSWORD, TOKEN, KEY, CREDENTIAL keywords (previously only 4 explicit keys)
- CORS: deny cross-origin requests when FRONTEND_URL is unset in production
(previously fell back to allowing all origins)

SaelixCode 2e0f3e2711 security: harden terminal WebSocket endpoints against three attack vectors
- Reject node_proxy scoped JWT tokens with 403 on host-console and
container exec (/ws) upgrades; machine-to-machine credentials must
  not open interactive shells
- Validate stackParam against path.resolve + startsWith(baseDir) to

- Strip JWT_SECRET, AUTH_PASSWORD, AUTH_PASSWORD_HASH, DATABASE_URL
from the environment passed to node-pty spawned shells
