Operators previously saw "spawn docker ENOENT" or "spawn /bin/sh ENOENT" when
the host was under memory pressure, which sent them down a missing-binary
debugging path. Linux libuv's posix_spawn can fail to allocate its argv /
path-search arena under low free memory and surface the underlying ENOMEM
as ENOENT.
Centralizes spawn-error mapping in a new utils/spawnErrors.ts helper:
- Explicit ENOMEM is rewritten to "Out of memory while launching <command>
(host free memory: X MiB of Y MiB)".
- ENOENT under the 128 MiB free-memory floor is rewritten with the same
wording plus a "reported as ENOENT under memory pressure" hint.
- ENOENT for docker on a healthy host preserves the existing
"Docker CLI unavailable on this node" mapping.
- Other errors pass through unchanged.
Applied at the four named offenders: ComposeService.execute(),
ComposeService.captureCompose(), DockerController.getContainersByStack(),
and FileSystemService.getStacks() (which gets an ENOMEM-aware log line
for the scandir failure).
Startup also logs host free/total MiB once and warns when free memory is
below the 128 MiB floor, so the diagnostic surfaces before the first
spawn attempt rather than after it fails.
37 tests cover the mapping function directly and the ComposeService /
FileSystemService integration paths.
* feat(mesh): replace host-mode with shared sencho_mesh Docker network
Phase D of the mesh redesign: drop the operator's `network_mode: host`
requirement and the `host-gateway` extra_hosts pattern that did not work
on cloud iptables-restrictive distros (OCI, etc.) or Docker Desktop.
Each Sencho creates a shared `sencho_mesh` Docker bridge network on
boot (default subnet 172.30.0.0/24, override via SENCHO_MESH_SUBNET),
pins itself at `<network>+2`, and attaches every meshed user service to
the same bridge. Compose overrides now emit IP-based `extra_hosts` plus
a top-level `networks` block declaring `sencho_mesh` external.
Override delivery: central renders for local stacks; for remote stacks
it sends the fleet alias list to the remote's new `PUT /api/mesh/local-
override/:stackName` endpoint, which renders against the remote's OWN
local senchoIp and writes under its OWN DATA_DIR. Each node may use a
different subnet without coordination beyond the env var.
Opt-in / opt-out now trigger an automatic redeploy of the affected
stack via the existing deploy code path (local: ComposeService; remote:
HTTP POST through proxyFetch). The frontend opt-in sheet shows a
confirmation modal (ConfirmModal) before the mutation. Failed
redeploys emit both a mesh activity event and a durable audit-log row.
Hardening:
- Reserve port 1852 at opt-in (prevents user containers from racing
the Sencho API listener).
- ensureMeshNetwork refuses to continue if `sencho_mesh` exists with a
mismatched subnet rather than silently routing to the wrong IP.
- Idempotent network connect/disconnect helpers in DockerController.
- optInStack rolls back the DB row if the just-inserted stack's
override push fails (no half-states surviving across calls).
- regenerateOverridesForNode runs in parallel and skips the just-
pushed stack on opt-in.
Operator template: drop `network_mode: host`, restore
`ports: ["1852:1852"]`. Mesh now works identically on Linux LAN, OCI,
and Docker Desktop without firewall changes.
Docs: rewrite docs/features/sencho-mesh.mdx around the shared bridge
network, document SENCHO_MESH_SUBNET, surface the host-network-service
opt-in restriction, and cross-link with the Pilot Agent docs.
BREAKING CHANGE: the operator's `docker-compose.yml` no longer uses
`network_mode: host`. After upgrading, redeploy any meshed stacks once
so they pick up the new IP-based override and join `sencho_mesh`.
* fix(mesh): wrap stackName with path.basename in local-override fs ops
CodeQL flagged js/path-injection on the new applyLocalOverride and
removeLocalOverride methods because they are publicly reachable and
its data-flow model does not recognize isValidStackName /
isPathWithinBase as sanitizers. The validation IS sufficient (the
allowlist regex blocks path separators, the path-prefix check blocks
escape), but path.basename is a model CodeQL recognizes and is purely
defensive: for any input that already passes isValidStackName,
basename is the identity.
Adds a read-only inspect panel for Docker images. Click the eye icon on
any image row to open a sheet showing:
- Overview: ID (with copy), size, created date, arch/OS, author, tags
- Config: Cmd, Entrypoint, WorkingDir, User, exposed ports, env (collapsible),
labels (collapsible)
- Layers: ordered history list with size, age, and build command per layer.
Empty layers (metadata-only) are dimmed.
Backend adds DockerController.inspectImage(id) which combines image.inspect()
and image.history() in parallel, exposed via GET /api/system/images/:id.
The route accepts both bare hex IDs and sha256-prefixed IDs, since the list
endpoint surfaces the prefixed form. Returns 400 for malformed IDs and 404
for missing images.
Documents the new panel in docs/features/resources.mdx under Images.
DockerController.pruneManagedOnly removed managed volumes,
networks, and images one at a time inside a serial for-await loop.
Each remove call hits the Docker daemon over the Unix socket with a
synchronous-from-the-caller's-perspective HTTP round-trip, so a
prune over N items took the sum of N round-trips. The daemon
handles concurrent removes fine for these resource types.
Wrap each loop in Promise.all so wall time tracks the slowest
single remove rather than the sum. The existing per-item try/catch
keeps the partial-failure semantics: a single resource that fails
to delete logs and continues; the rest still get removed.
JavaScript single-threading makes the shared reclaimedBytes
counter safe under the parallel awaits.
MonitorService.evaluate() forked the docker CLI every 30s and
walked the human-readable Reclaimable strings ("1.196GB", etc.)
with a regex to compute the janitor threshold check. The Docker
Engine API returns raw byte counts, and the existing
DockerController.getDiskUsage() already wraps it for images,
containers, and volumes. Extend that helper with reclaimable
build-cache bytes so MonitorService can sum the four categories
in one call.
Drops the child_process / promisify imports from MonitorService and
removes about 30 lines of stdout parsing. Also widens the explicit
return type of getDiskUsageClassified so the new fields aren't
silent runtime additions.
* refactor(backend): sanitize user input before logging to close CRLF injection
Adds a small sanitizeForLog helper that strips CR, LF, tab, and ASCII
control characters (0x00-0x1F, 0x7F) from a value before it is embedded
in a console.log/warn/error/debug call. Wraps every call site where a
user-controlled value (req.params, req.body, req.query, or a value
derived from them) flows into a log message.
Closes the bulk of the open CodeQL alerts in this family:
- 96 js/log-injection
- 28 js/tainted-format-string
The helper is in backend/src/utils/safeLog.ts. Routes still pre-validate
input at the request boundary; this is the second line of defense and
gives static analyzers a sanitizer they can trace through. JSON
responses, Docker filter labels, and other non-log call sites are
intentionally left unwrapped.
* refactor(backend): printf-style format strings for tainted-log call sites
CodeQL's js/tainted-format-string rule flags template literals in the first
arg of console.X when any interpolated value is user-controlled, regardless
of whether each value is sanitized inline. The canonical mitigation is to
use a static format string and pass values as positional args.
Converts the 28 flagged template literals to printf-style ("%s") format
strings, with sanitizeForLog applied to each positional arg. Also fills in
the log-injection wraps on 9 sites where a user-controlled value was
missed in the first sweep (agents, fleet, gitSources, imageUpdates,
GitSourceService).
No behavior change at runtime. Node's util.format substitutes %s tokens
identically to template-literal interpolation.
* fix(backend): wrap nodeId/snapshotId in fleet restore debug log
CodeQL flagged the unwrapped numeric args even though they cannot
contain control chars in practice. Apply the sanitizer for taint-flow
recognition.
* feat(stack-view): identity header with health state and action hierarchy
Redesign the stack view header around three questions: what is this, is it
healthy, what does it do. Surface Docker healthcheck state, primary image
tag, and image digest; group actions by frequency.
- Backend: extend /api/stacks/:name/containers with healthStatus (healthy /
unhealthy / starting / none), Image, and ImageID by inspecting each
container in parallel.
- Frontend: replace flat CardHeader with breadcrumb, italic serif title,
colored state pill with pulse, and a mono image/digest line with a
one-click copy button for the full digest.
- Frontend: action hierarchy - primary cyan Restart/Start, outline Stop and
Update, and an overflow menu for Rollback, Scan config, and Delete.

Destructive actions now live under the stack toolbar overflow menu rather
than as a flat top-level button, so the delete flow must click More actions
before selecting the Delete menu item.
Replaces the stacked bar + legend with a reclaim-first layout: an amber
hero banner surfaces the total reclaimable bytes and breakdown (unused
images, stopped containers, dangling volumes) with a one-click review &
prune CTA; a three-tile treemap replaces the stacked bar with proportional
areas for Sencho-managed, External, and Reclaimable; and the Volumes tab
gets a two-card landing highlighting the largest volumes by size and
recently changed ones.
* feat(dashboard): status masthead, unified gauges, stack health sparklines
Rework the home dashboard around a single cyan-railed status masthead
that carries the health state word, node meta, and reasons inline. The
resource block collapses into one strip with a CPU hero sparkline,
memory and disk gauge bars, and a network tile whose sparkline is built
from per-container byte-counter deltas. Stack health becomes an
8-column mono table with row tinting, an uptime column sourced from
the oldest running container's creation time, and a per-stack 10-minute
CPU sparkline. Historical charts pick up a cyan gradient and an amber
peak marker. A shared Sparkline primitive backs all of the above.

The cpuHistory, netHistory, and cpuPeakLabel memos called Date.now()
inside useMemo, which violates react-hooks/purity: the rule fires
because re-renders can produce different bucket boundaries from the
same inputs. Derive a historyEndAt anchor from the newest metric
sample in the polled series and thread it through to ResourceGauges.
* fix(network-topology): harden with edge-case fixes, logging, and test coverage
Fixes stale data on node switch (topology now refreshes when active node changes),
adds manual refresh button to toolbar, and guards against containers with empty
Names arrays by falling back to a 12-char short ID. Adds operational and diagnostic

The stream variable was typed as NodeJS.ReadWriteStream, which lacks
.destroy(). Dockerode's Exec.start() returns stream.Duplex per its
type definitions. This caused tsc to fail while Vitest (which skips
full type checking) passed.
* fix(alerts): harden with security fixes, design compliance, and test coverage
Add authMiddleware to all alert endpoints, validate notification test
dispatch inputs, fix restart_count metric via Docker inspect, correct
network metric units, replace any types with DockerContainerStats
interface, add webhook timeouts and dispatch error tracking.

confirmation AlertDialog, fix icon strokeWidth to 1.5.
Add update availability notifications for both Sencho version updates
(6-hour check in MonitorService) and stack image updates (state

Add diagnostic logging gated behind developer_mode for MonitorService
breach state machine and NotificationService dispatch routing.

Show a pulsating warning dot next to host ports that are already in
use by a running container. Hovering over the dot reveals which
Sencho-managed stack or external app occupies the port.
Adds GET /api/ports/in-use endpoint that returns a map of bound host
ports with ownership info, and a getPortsInUse method on
DockerController that reuses the existing container-to-stack
resolution logic.

Replaces five ad-hoc in-process caches (project name map, templates, latest
version, fleet update status, remote node meta) with a single internal
CacheService that provides TTL, inflight-promise deduplication to protect
against thundering herd, stale-on-error fallback, and per-namespace
hit/miss/stale/size counters for observability.
Wraps the hot-path dashboard endpoints in the cache with write-path
invalidation: /api/stats (2s), /api/system/stats (3s), and
/api/stacks/statuses (3s). Keys are namespaced by nodeId so switching nodes
never serves another node's data. Every route that mutates container or
stack state calls invalidateNodeCaches(nodeId), which also drops the global
project-name-map, so user actions stay instantly reflected in the UI.
For /api/system/stats the cheap per-request network rx/tx block is kept
outside the cache so live-updating charts stay smooth while the expensive
systeminformation.currentLoad() CPU sample (~200ms) is reused across the
TTL.
Adds admin-only GET /api/system/cache-stats returning per-namespace
counters for operators who want to observe cache effectiveness.
Enables the compression middleware site-wide for JSON responses. Large
payloads like /api/templates shrink roughly 5x on the wire. SSE endpoints
are explicitly excluded via a Content-Type filter so live log tails and
metric streams are not buffered.
Bumps vitest hookTimeout to match testTimeout (15s) so parallel fork
workers do not hit the default 10s hook limit under CPU contention.
Adds 35 new tests (26 unit for CacheService, 9 integration for cached
endpoints) covering TTL expiry, inflight dedup, stale-on-error,
namespace invalidation, entry-cap safety guard, and write-path
invalidation end-to-end through Express routes.
Replace N+1 Docker API calls (inspectNetwork per network) with a
container-centric approach that fetches all networks and containers
in 2 parallel calls, then maps relationships in memory.
Add dagre auto-layout algorithm for hierarchical DAG visualization,
replacing the static two-row layout that caused edge spaghetti at scale.
Add "Show system networks" toggle, enrich container nodes with running
state indicators, stack badges, and base image names. Clicking a
running container opens its log viewer directly from the topology graph.
* fix(sidebar): add service name and config_files fallbacks for container-to-stack matching
Containers that predate Sencho's reorganization of compose files into
subdirectories carry stale Docker labels where the project name is set
to the COMPOSE_DIR basename (e.g. "compose") rather than the stack
directory name. The existing project name map and working_dir fallbacks
from PR #416 did not cover this case.
Added two new fallback strategies to getBulkStackStatuses:
- Match by com.docker.compose.service label against known stack names
- Extract stack name from com.docker.compose.project.config_files path
Also reused the existing isPathWithinBase utility for path containment
checks and hoisted path.resolve(COMPOSE_DIR) out of the per-container
loop.

Extract shared helpers (resolveContainerStack, resolveProjectLabel,
buildAbsDirMap) and apply them consistently across getClassifiedResources,

Fixes incorrect "External" tagging in Resources Hub for images, volumes,
and networks belonging to stacks that predate Sencho's compose file
reorganization. Also fixes the "active" plural on the dashboard
Containers card.
* fix(sidebar): resolve stacks showing unknown status when compose name field is set
The bulk status endpoint matched containers to stacks using the
com.docker.compose.project Docker label, assuming it equals the stack
directory name. When a compose file declares a top-level name: field,
Docker Compose uses that as the project name instead, causing the
label lookup to miss those containers entirely.
The fix parses each stack's compose file to build a project-name-to-
directory mapping (cached with 60s TTL to avoid re-parsing on every
poll), with a fallback to the working_dir label for edge cases.
Also extracts compose file name variants into a shared constant and
fixes an ordering inconsistency in smartFallback.

Add a destructive ghost button below the alerts feed that calls

Fix container stats flickering between 0 and correct values by moving

* fix(dashboard): resolve OOM from unbounded Docker stats polling
Three root causes addressed:
1. updateGlobalDockerNetwork had no overlap guard. When Docker was slow,
3-second interval ticks stacked up, creating dozens of concurrent
container.stats() calls that exhausted the heap. Added isUpdatingNetwork
flag and increased interval from 3s to 5s.
2. Historical metrics query returned ~20K rows (1-minute buckets x 14
containers x 24h). Downsampled to 5-minute buckets, reducing response
size by ~5x.
3. Dashboard polling continued when the browser tab was hidden, creating
phantom load. Replaced setInterval with visibilityInterval helper that
pauses polling on tab hide and resumes with an immediate fetch on focus.
* fix(dashboard): use loadFile for stack navigation from Stack Health table
The onNavigateToStack callback was only calling setSelectedFile and
setActiveView, skipping the full load flow (YAML content, env files,
containers, backup info). This caused the editor to show stale state
with a "Start" button for running stacks and empty YAML. Now calls
loadFile() which is the same path the sidebar uses.
* refactor(dashboard): simplify Containers card layout
Replace 2-column grid with vertical layout matching other gauge cards.
Active count uses text-2xl hero number, exited count sits in subtitle
position. Removed redundant total count row.

- Replace duplicate Notification interface in EditorLayout with shared
NotificationItem from dashboard/types.ts
- Tighten is_read type from number | boolean to number (matches SQLite)

Guard against undefined nodeId when calling fetchForNode for mark-read,
delete, and clear-all notification operations. The shared NotificationItem
type has nodeId as optional since the API response doesn't include it;
EditorLayout enriches it but TypeScript correctly flags the possibility.

file-system catches to distinguish missing files from permission errors.

Add Node modal — type selector & state reset:
- Restored a Local/Remote <Select> dropdown in renderFormFields so users can
explicitly choose the node type instead of it defaulting silently to 'remote'.
- Switching type clears api_url and api_token so no stale remote credentials
carry over if a user switches from Remote to Local mid-form.
- Replaced the static "Add Remote Node" title with a dynamic one that reflects
the currently selected type ("Add Local Node" / "Add Remote Node").
- onOpenChange now resets formData to defaultFormData whenever the dialog
opens, preventing stale values from a previous session leaking in.
Remote connection details — real metrics:
- testRemoteConnection previously returned hard-coded '-' for containers,
images, and cpus after a successful auth/check ping.
- Now fires three parallel requests (Promise.allSettled) after auth passes:
/api/stats → containers total + running count
/api/system/stats → cpu.cores
/api/system/images → image list length
- Each field falls back to '-' gracefully if an endpoint is unavailable,
so a slow or older remote instance never breaks the connection test.
DEP0060 util._extend suppression:
- http-proxy@1.18.1 calls util._extend when createProxyServer() is first
invoked at runtime (NOT at import time). A process.emitWarning override
placed before the proxy instantiations intercepts only DEP0060 without
suppressing any other warnings. No package version changes needed.
