fix: make Reduced motion gate overlays, standardize the tab band, and polish fleet/snapshots (#1504)
* fix: address review feedback on motion, fleet band, and snapshots - Reduced motion now also skips the animate-ui overlay open/close animations (dialog, sheet, popover, dropdown-menu) via a shared useReducedTransition that zeroes the transition when reduced motion is active; MotionConfig alone only neutralized transform/layout, leaving the opacity/blur fade. - Fleet tab band: flatten the list's own pill band so the tabs sit in a single full-width band instead of a nested second band. - Fleet Overview: label the node-update button "Node Update"; the add-node button becomes a ChartNetwork icon that opens Settings > Nodes (outline style, matching the node-update button) instead of the add-node modal. - Blueprint deployments empty state: drive the serif headings from the theme heading-style token so Calm drops the italic. - Snapshots: move the per-stack Restore onto the stack header row (right side), matching the ghost action style. * feat: standardize the tab band on Security and add a tab hover state - Apply the Fleet full-width tab band to the Security page (single band, the list's pill background flattened so the tabs sit directly in it). - Add a hover highlight to tabs so the band reads as interactive, not flat; the active tab is unaffected. * fix: drive reduced-motion transitions from the app setting, not the OS query useReducedTransition called framer-motion's useReducedMotion(), which only reflects the OS prefers-reduced-motion media query and ignores our MotionConfig / appearance toggle, so dialogs kept animating with the setting on. A batch of UI/UX polish: - New independent "Reduced motion" appearance setting (separate from Reduced effects). Drives framer-motion via MotionConfig and clamps CSS transitions via data-motion on <html>; toasts are unaffected. Defaults off (OS preference still honored). - Stack-detail Files tab: rename "Files & Volumes" to "Files", add a persisted word-wrap toggle to the file viewer (default on), and add a fullscreen toggle that collapses the Command Center + Logs column so the editor fills the width. - Create Stack > From Git: remove the nested scroll clamp so the deploy toggle and footer are reachable. - Fleet: full-width tab band with icon-only Refresh / Export Dossier, icon-only Check-for-updates / Add-node on the Overview toolbar, theme-aware empty-state headings (calm drops the italic), and fix the Actions card body overlapping the action-row divider. - Snapshots: restyle Restore and Restore all to the ghost button design used by View / Preview / Download, and right-align the per-stack Restore. - Settings sidebar: App Store gradient active style and standard font size. - Compose Doctor: dismiss the high-risk banner (and clear the tab dot) until the findings change, via a shared fingerprint-keyed hook. - Stack-detail Storage: link the "no recent fleet snapshot" warning to the Fleet Snapshots tab (FleetView tabs are now controlled to support the deep link). |

fix: render node-update changelog notes as formatted markdown (#1474)
The Changelog tab in the Node Updates sheet rendered GitHub release notes as raw markdown inside a preformatted block, so headings, bullet lists, and issue/commit links showed as literal markup and were hard to read. Render the notes with a small react-markdown wrapper styled to the design tokens (raw HTML is intentionally not rendered, keeping it safe). Also: - Replace the bare loading spinner with a content-shaped skeleton. - Add a graceful empty state when no notes are available, with a link to the online changelog. - Add a "View on Sencho" link next to "View on GitHub". - Stop the release-notes fetch from re-firing on every failure by tracking whether a fetch has settled, so a null result lands on the empty state instead of looping; Recheck resets it to force a fresh fetch. |

feat(files): copy & duplicate, bulk actions, disk-backed uploads, and an accessible file tree (#1409)
* perf(files): spool uploads to disk instead of buffering in memory
Switch the stack file-explorer upload from multer memoryStorage to
diskStorage and stream the spooled temp file through the file-root
gateway, so an upload is never held fully in RAM. Authorization and
root resolution now run before multer spools, so an unauthorized or
read-only-root request is rejected without writing a temp file, and the
spool is removed on every exit path. The named-volume helper write
verifies the written byte count, since cat cannot report a short write.
* feat(files): copy and duplicate files in the explorer
Add a copy capability to the stack file explorer: a same-folder
Duplicate (auto-suffixed name) and a "Copy to..." destination picker,
on both filesystem and named-volume roots. Copying is within-root,
symlink-leaf-safe, blocks a directory copy into its own subtree, and
refuses to create a protected name (compose/.env) at the stack root
while still allowing a protected file to be duplicated under a new name.
* feat(files): make the file tree keyboard accessible
Bring the stack file explorer tree to the WCAG tree pattern: rows are
treeitems carrying aria-level, aria-selected, and aria-expanded, with a
single roving tabindex and full keyboard navigation (arrow keys,
Home/End, Enter/Space) over a flattened visible-node list that stays in
lockstep with the rendered rows. A polite live region announces the
selected file. No visual change to the tree.
* feat(files): bulk select, delete, move, and download files
Add multi-select to the stack file explorer (checkboxes plus Shift and
Ctrl/Cmd click over the visible order) driving three bulk actions:
delete, move, and download as a streamed .tar.gz. All run within the
active root on both filesystem and named-volume backends, report
per-item results so partial failures surface (with the failed items
kept selected for retry), normalize ancestor/descendant selections
server-side, and cap the archive entry and byte counts before any
bytes are streamed. Protected compose/.env files are excluded from
bulk delete and move but may still be downloaded.

CodeQL js/path-injection does not credit the wrapped isPathWithinBase
containment check, so the new copy/bulk/disk-upload flows tripped the
gate. Inline the canonical path.resolve + startsWith barrier at the
realpath sink in resolveSafePathWithin (covers every user-relPath flow)
and confirm the multer spool path resolves within UPLOAD_TMP_DIR before
unlinking it or streaming it onward. Behavior is unchanged; the paths
were already validated.
* fix(files): guard the ancestor-walk realpath sink too
The first barrier covered realpath(target), but the ENOENT ancestor
walk re-derives the path via path.dirname, which static analysis treats
as a fresh tainted value. Add the same inline containment barrier before
that realpath and resolve the root case via the untainted base, so the
only tainted realpath input is one the startsWith check has cleared.
Behavior is unchanged.
* fix(files): resolve the root case off the taint path in the ancestor walk
The compound guard on existing (the same variable as the startsWith
subject) was not credited as a sanitizer. Handle the root case before
the barrier by resolving the untainted base directly, leaving a plain
canonical startsWith guard on the strictly-within ancestor. Behavior is
unchanged.
* fix(files): harden helper-backend bulk download and uploads
Address three issues found in the named-volume (helper) backend:
- Bulk download could send 200 headers before discovering a file the
helper download path refuses, tearing the archive mid-stream. The
prewalk now rejects symlinks, non-regular ("other") entries, and
files over the per-file download cap before any header (400/413).
FileEntry gains an 'other' type so non-regular entries stay distinct
from regular files as they pass through the gateway.
- The helper directory listing was fully buffered before the archive
entry cap could fire. listDir now accepts a limit; the list script
stops after limit+1 rows and the gateway reports truncation.
- A stdin pipeline error during a helper upload masked the container's
real nonzero exit code (and its 4xx mapping) as a generic 500. The
nonzero exit now wins; the masked stream error is logged.
* feat(files): add a New file toolbar button with server-enforced create-only
The stack file explorer could create a folder from a toolbar button but a
new file only from a folder's right-click menu, so a file could not be
created at the stack root at all. Add a New file toolbar button beside New
folder, targeting the current directory.
Creating a file now routes through a new createEmptyStackFile helper that
posts a zero-byte file through the existing upload endpoint with overwrite
off, so the server's exclusive-create path rejects an existing name instead
of clobbering it. A file collision surfaces inline in the dialog; a folder
collision and other failures surface as a toast.
* fix(files): widen the tree row hit area and add horizontal scroll for long names
Right-clicking a file tree row only opened the Sencho context menu when the
click landed on the filename; the rest of the row fell through to the native
browser menu, and long names were truncated with no way to read them.
Make each row span the full pane width (and grow with its content) so the
whole row is the context-menu trigger, and let the tree scroll horizontally
so a long name is reachable instead of clipped. A new opt-in horizontal prop
on ScrollArea adds the styled horizontal scrollbar without clamping content
width.
* docs(files): document the New file button, full-row right-click, and long-name scrolling
* test(files): cover createEmptyStackFile targeting the stack root
Add an API-layer case for the empty-directory (stack root) create path, the
primary reason the New file toolbar button exists, so a regression in the
root-level URL would be caught at unit speed rather than only in e2e.

Base rule sets family + style only, so each call site keeps its own weight/tracking and Signature stays a true no-op; the Calm lift is a `[data-headings="clean"]` descendant rule. The accent stopped at the thin rail because the ambient glow was painted only on the main app shell, never inside a portaled panel, and the overlay scrim was a hardcoded black. - Derive the popover surface from per-theme lightness and alpha plus the contrast spread, the same way the page background is derived, so every floating surface tones with the active theme (including OLED true black) and deepens with contrast. Dim and Light are unchanged at the default contrast. - Add an accent wash to sheets and large dialogs so the chosen accent reads inside them, matching the page. Small dropdowns and tooltips keep the themed tone without the wash. - Replace the hardcoded modal and sheet scrim with a theme-aware token that softens to a light dim in the Light theme. Tested across Dim, OLED, and Light with multiple accents and contrast levels. * fix(theme): keep the command palette token-only (no accent wash) The command palette renders through DialogContent, so it picked up the accent wash meant for content sheets and dialogs. It is a command menu, so it should stay token-only like dropdowns and tooltips. Add an optional panelGlow flag to DialogContent (on by default, so every other dialog is unchanged) and turn it off for the palette. |

Add an opt-in constrainBodyWidth prop to SystemSheet that bounds the scrolling body to the sheet width and lets a wider child scroll horizontally, and enable it on the blueprint sheet. The prop defaults off, so every other sheet is unchanged. |

Tighten the Fleet > Routing tab so its node cards and diagnostics read
honestly for proxy-connected fleets, and remove a couple of dead ends.
- Node cards drop the "pilot connected/offline" line, which was meaningless
for nodes that connect over the HTTP API proxy. The compact card drops the
matching agent cell and now reads stacks / aliases / bridge.
- Enabling mesh on a proxy node shows a transient "Connecting" state and
settles to meshed on its own, instead of flashing "Degraded" with a manual
refresh while the bridge finishes dialing.
- The alias detail sheet gains a "Remove from mesh" action that opts the
alias's owning stack out (the confirmation says how many aliases that
drops), and a "Topology" tab. The standalone topology sheet and its
opt-in-sheet shortcut are removed in favor of the tab.
- The "Add stack" affordance stays reachable on a meshed node, so a node
that already has aliases is no longer a dead end.
- Diagnostics and the alias detail sheet show a transport-aware line
("local", "API proxy bridge", or "Pilot tunnel" with its state) instead of
a fixed "Pilot tunnel" label.
Adds unit coverage for the new state derivation, transport descriptor, the
enable auto-converge, and the admin-gated removal, and updates the mesh docs.
* fix(mesh): harden Routing tab toggle and alias sheet against async races
Independent review surfaced two narrow async races in the new code.
- RoutingNodeCard: cancel the converge re-poll batch at the start of any
toggle (so a slow disable can't let a prior enable's re-polls fire), and
guard the toast, refresh, timer scheduling, and setToggling behind a mounted
ref so nothing runs after the card unmounts while the enable POST is still
in flight.
- MeshRouteDetailSheet: re-check the cancelled flag after reading the
diagnostic body, not just before it. Reading the body is itself async, so a
superseded alias's diagnostic could otherwise call setDiag and expose Remove
for the wrong stack.
Adds tests for unmount-before-enable-resolves and the deferred-diagnostic
alias switch.

A live preview reflects changes in real time. Adds a documentation page under Features. * fix(appearance): keep contrast-driven tokens in gamut and add picker keyboard nav Clamp the contrast and knob driven surface, border, and ink lightness so the full slider range stays a valid color. The page now always sits below the card tone, so page/card separation no longer collapses at high contrast in Light; the lit border edge never reaches white in Light at the low end of the knobs; and the OLED and Dim extremes resolve to valid black/white instead of out-of-range values. Thread a canManage flag (true only for admins) from the Fleet view into the Routing tab, its node cards, and the opt-in sheet so non-admins get a read-only Routing tab: the enable/disable toggle, add-stack, and opt-in/opt-out controls are hidden, while status, aliases, topology, activity, diagnostics, and the alias test probe stay available. This mirrors the Federation tab's existing read-only treatment for non-admins. Add backend route-gating tests covering the tier and admin-role guards on every mesh route, and frontend render-gate tests for the node card and the opt-in sheet in both density layouts. * refactor(mesh): require canManage on the routing-node-card primitive Remove the permissive `canManage = true` default on the shared routing-node-card primitive so a new call site cannot render the management controls without an explicit decision. * fix(global-search): surface unreachable nodes and harden the command palette The command palette discarded the cross-node search hook's failedNodes, so a search run while a fleet node was down silently returned partial results with no sign a host was skipped. It now renders an "N nodes unreachable" line and still shows the stacks it could gather. The shared cross-node search hook fetched every node's stack list and statuses on every keystroke. It now fans out once per search session and filters the cached inventory client-side as the query is refined, cutting per-keystroke fleet traffic. A 200 response with an unparseable status body degrades stacks to unknown instead of failing the whole node. The palette now owns result matching (cmdk's built-in fuzzy filter is disabled), so Pages, Nodes, and Stacks match by case-insensitive substring in a deterministic order and the 50-row cap applies to the real match set rather than a re-sorted slice. Adds unit coverage for the hook and palette, plus a Playwright journey spec. * fix(global-search): clear stale cross-node results when the active node changes When excludeNodeId changed mid-search (the sidebar switches it on active-node change), the hook started a fresh fanout but left the previous session's inventory and failedNodes visible until the refetch resolved, so the newly active node could briefly appear under the other-nodes results or a stale unreachable warning could persist. The new session now drops prior results synchronously before refetching. |

Pair with auto-rows-fr so every row equalizes to the tallest content height, and let <FleetActionCard> stretch into the cell via flex flex-col h-full plus a flex-1 body. Footer pins to the bottom; the shorter card's body grows whitespace below its content. 2. Reorder the JSX to Prune, Bulk, Stop. Prune sits top-left with its live "~ N GB reclaimable" estimate populated on first render. Stop, which reads "awaiting target" until the operator types, drops to row 2 below the fold. 3. Replace the native <datalist> on the Stop card with a custom LabelAutocomplete: free-form text input + a Sencho-styled popover (border-glass-border, bg-popover, backdrop-blur) that filters the known-label set as the operator types. Click a suggestion via mousedown + preventDefault so the input stays focused and the selection registers before any blur-driven close. Outside-click and Escape close the popover. Operator can still run against a label that was not in the autocomplete set; the server-side match-preview resolves it. Migrates the last five sheet consumers and extracts the inline network
detail sheet from ResourcesView into its own file.
Sheets migrated:
* VolumeBrowserSheet: crumb Resources > Volumes > {name}, Refresh tree
primary, footer audit-log notice. Uses the new SystemSheet noScroll
prop because the body is a 2-pane file browser that manages its own
scroll regions; each pane (file tree, file preview) wraps its scroll
region in ScrollArea per §10 Scrollbars.
* ImageDetailsSheet: crumb Resources > Images > {name}. Three sections
(Overview, Config, Layers) flush against hairlines. Removed the
icon-prefixed title and per-layer card wrapping (replaced with
divide-y dividers).
* NetworkDetailSheet: NEW file extracted from the inline 150-line
network sheet that lived inside ResourcesView.tsx. Crumb Resources >
Networks > {name}. Five sections (Overview, IPAM, Options, Connected,
Labels). Re-exports NetworkInspectData so ResourcesView can import
the type. ResourcesView now renders the extracted component and drops
its now-unused Sheet, ScrollArea, copyToClipboard, Copy, and Container
imports.
* AppStoreView template detail sheet: crumb App store > {template}.
Tabs Essentials | Advanced. Deploy lifted from SheetFooter into the
toolbar primary slot. The remote-target signal (was a Badge in the
header) collapses into the meta line as "→ {remoteName}".
* BlueprintDetail: the §9.11 reference implementation, intentionally
migrated last. Crumb Blueprints > {name}. The kebab dropdown
dissolves into individual toolbar actions: Apply now (primary), Edit
(secondary, when not in editMode), Enable/Disable (secondary), Delete
(destructive). Body has Description, Deployments, Compose sections.
Primitive enhancement:
* Added noScroll?: boolean to SystemSheet. When true, the body is
rendered as a flex container instead of being wrapped in ScrollArea.
Caller manages its own scroll regions and body padding.
Final state: frontend/src/components/ui/sheet.tsx is now imported only
by TopBar.tsx (mobile nav drawer, intentionally out of scope per the
plan) and SystemSheet itself. The §9.11 rollout is complete.

freshness band). Today the 16 sheet consumers each render their own
header chrome with stock shadcn SheetHeader/SheetTitle.
Introduce <SystemSheet> + <SheetSection> in
frontend/src/components/ui/system-sheet.tsx, composing the existing
<Sheet>/<SheetContent> primitive. Add a backward-compatible showClose
prop to SheetContent so SystemSheet can render its own ESC chip + close
glyph instead of the stock cyan square close.
Migrate the four mesh sheets as the first batch:
* MeshActivitySheet: crumb Fleet › Mesh › Activity, footer freshness from
most-recent event timestamp.
* MeshOptInSheet: crumb Fleet › Mesh › {nodeName}, meta of opted-in

fix(frontend): short-circuit CapabilityGate and extract shared LockCard (#873)
CapabilityGate previously rendered the gated children behind a blur
filter and overlay pill when the active node lacked the required
capability. Combined with the lazy-loaded views from the recent
splitting work, this meant the chunk for FleetView, AuditLogView,
HostConsole, etc. fetched on click even when the user could not use
the feature, defeating the click-time IP protection the lazy split
was meant to deliver. CapabilityGate was the only always-leaking gate
in the app.
Replace the blurred-children render with a clean glass lock card that
explains the version mismatch ("Fleet Management is not available on
this node. <node> is running v0.42.0. Upgrade the node to use this
feature."). Children are no longer rendered, so the lazy children
never mount and no chunk fetch happens. All 13 consumers (5 full-page
views, 7 settings sections, 1 inline panel in ResourcesView) get the
new behavior automatically; no consumer-side changes required.
Extract a shared LockCard primitive used by both CapabilityGate and
the existing TierLockedCard inside settings/SectionGate. The two were
95% identical (same glass-card chrome, same icon framing, same text
hierarchy) and would have drifted as the design evolved. The shared
primitive accepts an icon, title, and body, with an optional className
for layout overrides; the inner geometry is fixed so every lock state
in the app shares the same visual rhythm.
PaidGate and AdmiralGate still fall through to "blurred preview with
small pill" after a user clicks Dismiss on their full-page upsell
(24h localStorage window). That post-dismissal click-time leak is
intentionally out of scope here; closing it would require either
removing the dismissal flow or replacing the blurred-children render
with a static placeholder, both UX decisions deserving their own PR.

Brings the full-page Settings route into the Sencho voice. The page now
opens with a full-width PageMasthead (cyan rail, mono crumb, italic
serif title, contextual stat strip) above a sidebar and main-content
panel, each as a rounded-xl card inset on the dark background.
Sidebar drops the duplicate "Settings" header and the candy tier badges.
Group headers carry mono labels with visible/total counts; gated rows
get a neutral uppercase lock chip and dim. Active rows keep the cyan
2px rail.
Five new primitives (SettingsSection, SettingsField, SettingsCallout,
SettingsActions / SettingsPrimaryButton, TierLockChip) replace the
stacked label-input-help shadcn defaults and the per-section ad-hoc
chrome. AccountSection, AppearanceSection, LicenseSection, SystemSection,
NotificationsSection, DeveloperSection, AppStoreSection, AboutSection,
and SupportSection are migrated to the new layout. The list-driven
sections (Webhooks, Routing, Users, Labels, Security, CloudBackup,
ApiTokens, Registries, NodeManager, SSO) keep their list cards but get
the new chrome and primary CTAs.
Each section can publish contextual stats to the masthead via a small
context channel: 2FA state on Account, plan/trial/renews on License,
edited count on System, channel counts on Notifications, etc.

The Settings page was the only surface using react-router-dom for sub-section
navigation. Every other primary view (Home, Fleet, Resources, App Store,
Schedules, etc.) drives view switching through a single activeView useState in
EditorLayout. This change removes the dependency end-to-end:
- App.tsx drops BrowserRouter
- EditorLayout adds 'settings' to the activeView union; SettingsPage renders
inside the same flex-1 overflow-y-auto p-6 wrapper as siblings
- UserProfileDropdown receives an onOpenSettings callback instead of
useNavigate. SettingsPage owns currentSection via props lifted to
EditorLayout, so cross-component navigation (openLabelManager,
onManageNodes, ConfigurationStatus rows) can route to a sub-section
- SettingsSidebar items become buttons (no more NavLink); SectionGate's
redirect-on-invisible falls back through SettingsPage's safeSection memo
- e2e/nodes.spec.ts updates the Nodes selector from link to button role
- react-router-dom removed from package.json + package-lock.json
