* fix(ecstore)!: bind bitrot shards to immutable part identities
Verify part, coding-index, and block identity across write, GET, and Heal
paths. Preserve identities across metadata-only copies and repair, include
them in multipart quorum selection, and require payload proof for receipts.
Keep legacy decoding with conservative parity and target-digest validation,
and document its unsupported cases and additional verification I/O.
BREAKING CHANGE: New bound-v1 shards require compatible readers throughout
the fleet. Legacy objects without sufficient integrity evidence return an
error; binary rollback after new writes requires verified data migration.
Refs: rustfs/backlog#2497
* fix(ecstore): preserve shard framing with independent integrity
Commit immutable part-generation Merkle roots and replicated proof indexes without changing existing checksum frames. Verify reads, reconstruction and Deep Heal against metadata quorum; keep legacy reads and explicitly defer unproven legacy data repair.
Preserve multipart rollback generations, require acknowledged durable index publication, and add decoder compatibility and donor-shard regression coverage.
* fix(heal): verify protected partial-write replay
`GET /v3/tier-stats` answered from whichever process received the
request, returning that node's rolling 24-hour transition counters as
if they were cluster totals, and the `TierRequestsSuccess` and
`TierRequestsFailure` metric names had no producer at all.
The body now separates the two quantities a tier carries. Stored
inventory comes from the persisted scanner usage snapshot, which is
already cluster-wide; rolling activity is summed over every member
through a new read-only `TierDailyStats` peer RPC. Rings are merged
rather than added, so an idle node's expired hours age out, and each
node counts only its own committed transitions, so a retry is counted
once. Coverage travels with the numbers: `activity.status` names the
reporting members and the ones that could not be asked, timed out, or
answered with a ring this build refuses to merge, and per-tier
inventory is absent rather than zero when the snapshot has no
accounting. The version 1 body stays reachable at `?format=legacy`.
Tier request counters are recorded at the two seams every remote
request passes through, so a new provider is counted by construction,
with a closed operation/outcome label set that can never grow a tier
name, endpoint or object key.

refactor(protos): move internode compat manifest send-site assertions into owning crates
Promotes the rolling-upgrade dual-write manifest from a test-only constant in rustfs-protos into the public rustfs_protos::compat_manifest module, moves the JSON-encoder send-site assertions into the crates that own the asserted sources (ecstore remote_disk.rs for requests, the rustfs binary node_service/disk.rs for responses), and splits the scanner Phase-0 overlap inventory so its heal- and ecstore-owned halves live in those crates. Adds a cross-crate include_str!/include! guard with fixture self-tests to scripts/check_layer_dependencies.sh so a library crate can never again read another crate's Rust source at compile time, and records the rule in docs/architecture/crate-boundaries.md.
Part of rustfs/backlog#1884.
* feat(heal): incremental heal status cursors and typed overlap policy (HS-06)
Incremental results: every retained result item now carries a monotonic
sequence number. The status query accepts a client cursor (sinceSeq on
the admin wire, Option<u64> internally) and returns only newer items,
plus nextSeq (the next cursor) and minSeq (the oldest retained
sequence). A cursor that fell behind the 1024-item retention window is
flagged through the existing truncated signal together with minSeq so
the client can restart from it. Sequencing survives task completion:
the completion archive stores the seq-stamped window. None keeps the
exact legacy full-snapshot behavior, so existing clients see no change.
Typed overlap handling for admin starts: RUSTFS_HEAL_OVERLAP_POLICY
(merge default | minio_error). Under minio_error, an admin start whose
path overlaps an active or queued task rejects with typed
already-running / overlapping-paths admission reasons (surfaced through
reason_label in the admin error body, sharing the existing
OperationAborted site because the s3s footprint ratchet forbids new
s3_error! sites); an exact duplicate start rejects with
already-running instead of silently merging. Scanner/autoheal/
read-repair sources never take the rejection path.
forceStart semantics now match MinIO for admin requests: an admin
forceStart first cancels the overlapping active admin task, then
admits the replacement.
Wire: the heal-control Query command grows an optional sinceSeq
(defaulted and skipped when absent, so older peers stay compatible);
the admin handler accepts the sinceSeq query parameter; the local
channel query gains the same cursor.
Tests: seq monotonicity and incremental slicing, window slide moving
minSeq with lagging-cursor flags, overlap matrix (same/containing/
contained/disjoint x policy x source), forceStart cancel-then-admit,
and the completion-archive window handoff.

* feat(rpc): bind canonical body digest into internode mutating disk RPC signatures
Binds a domain-separated, length-prefixed canonical request-body digest into the
v2 HMAC signature scope for every mutating NodeService disk RPC, so an on-path
attacker on the default-plaintext internode channel can no longer tamper with a
mutation payload (or strip the msgpack `_bin` field to force the JSON fallback
decode) without invalidating the signature.
Covers 13 mutating disk RPCs: RenameData, DeleteVersion, DeleteVersions,
WriteMetadata, UpdateMetadata, WriteAll, Delete, DeletePaths, RenameFile,
RenamePart, DeleteVolume, MakeVolume, MakeVolumes. The digest covers both the
msgpack `_bin` payloads and their JSON compatibility copies. Gated fail-open by
default (RUSTFS_INTERNODE_RPC_BODY_DIGEST_STRICT) with a convergence counter, so
rolling upgrades are byte-for-byte unaffected; the replay-cache capacity is now
configurable and overflow fails closed with a metric.

Add test coverage for the msgpack-only request/fleet confirmation truth table and exact request JSON policy manifest.
Pin request and response rollback behavior so removing either gate restores JSON compatibility while both gates enter msgpack-only for eligible fields.

test(internode): pin msgpack compat send sites
Add a checked test manifest for internode dual-encoded request and response payloads so node.proto _bin fields must be explicitly classified as msgpack-only eligible or always dual-write.
The manifest also pins the current JSON encoder call sites for request and response send paths, making future send-site drift visible before rollout.

Cache the internode msgpack-only env gate after the first read so metadata RPC send paths avoid repeated environment parsing. Keep a reset hook for tests that intentionally change the env in-process.

Keep internode JSON compatibility fields unless operators explicitly confirm fleet-wide msgpack-only readiness. This prevents a single legacy rollout flag from emptying JSON fields in mixed-version clusters where older peers may still read the legacy JSON payload.
