Keep PULSE_TOKEN out of the direct-token flag default. Refuse an unreadable or empty selected file instead of silently borrowing other credentials, while preserving enrolled runtime-token restarts and implicit token-optional startup. Cover actual flag loading and a synthetic host issuer, private installer-writer, compiled agent and trusted HTTPS lookup/report journey. This repairs an independent source-selection defect; it does not establish the cause or recovery of Discussion #2769. Change-source: pulse-maintainer
