Inspect the byte after each matching system-directory prefix instead of constructing slash-suffixed strings on every disk poll. Keep exact roots and children excluded and local sibling volumes eligible, with unchanged reasons and explicit operator patterns. Add a deterministic zero-allocation guard for eligible local mount paths.

Contract-Neutral: Preserve existing filesystem eligibility, skip reasons, user patterns, identities, wire schemas and guest-command safety policy; change only the allocation cost of the directory-boundary predicate.
