rcourtman 123821b02a Carry a typed reason when an alert closes without recovering
When a Pulse agent is linked to a Proxmox node, the node releases its
CPU, memory and disk alerts to the agent, and any node alert still open
closes. The close has to reach integrations so a PagerDuty or webhook
incident opened from the node alert does not stay open forever, but it
went out as a recovery: "pve1 on pve1 is now healthy" for a node still
at 95% memory, with synthesized "recovery projection" evidence behind
it. #1682 is the same complaint from another trigger: a close announced
as "now healthy" when nothing recovered.

A resolved alert can now carry an AlertResolution saying why it closed.
The first reason is moved_to_agent, with the agent's alert resource ID
and name. releaseCanonicalMetricAlert, the disabled-threshold release
pulled out of evaluateCanonicalMetricAlert, takes the resolution, and
clearAlertWithResolution stamps a copy on the alert before it resolves.
It rides the Alert JSON into the resolved callback, the delivery queue,
the history row and the event log. The synthesized closing evidence and
the resolve transition say what happened instead of claiming a recovery
projection.

Notifications still send the close and change only the words: "Memory
alert moved to pve1 (Host Agent). This is not a recovery: check the
agent for the current reading." for webhook messages, a MOVED title
without the green check on ntfy, and "Pulse alert moved" on email and
Apprise. A nil resolution, which every caller passes today, leaves
ordinary recoveries and the disabled-threshold path unchanged. The node
release adopts the reason once the host-agent node link records which
metrics the agent evaluates.

Pulse documentation

Start here for installation, platform setup, security, operations, and Pulse Intelligence. Commands, configuration keys, image names, API fields, and product identifiers remain untranslated in localized guides.

Start here

  • Install Pulse — signed Proxmox/Linux installation, Docker, Docker Compose, Kubernetes, and first-run setup.
  • Production deployment and security — least-privilege Proxmox setup, root-agent boundaries, discovery, supply-chain verification, plan limits, scale evidence, and a rollout checklist.
  • Upgrade from Pulse v5 — migration prerequisites, rollback, agent continuity, and post-upgrade checks.
  • Releases and update channels: choosing Stable or Preview, beta and RC expectations, and how releases are tested and promoted.
  • Configure Pulse — authentication, notifications, discovery, retention, and system settings.
  • Deployment models — data locations, lifecycle, and differences between supported deployment paths.
  • Troubleshooting and FAQ — common failures, diagnostics, and operator questions.

Platforms and agents

VMware vSphere support is early access. Current builds expose dedicated vSphere inventory and recovery context, but operators should validate the integration against their own vCenter before production use.

Monitoring and operations

Pulse Intelligence

Patrol watch-only analysis is available on Community with a local model or the operator's own provider. Investigation and governed fixes require the relevant Pulse Pro capabilities.

Security, privacy, and access

Plans and managed access

Pulse Cloud is not generally available. Ordinary self-hosted Pulse remains the primary installation path; MSP and Enterprise access are explicit commercial paths rather than defaults in self-hosted setup.

Development and reference

Detailed design notes and dated migration specifications may remain in this directory for maintainers, but they are not operator setup guides unless they are linked from the sections above.
