Preserve deliberate clears, singleton aliases and unknown fields; reject ambiguous or incomplete selections before validation and mutation. **Bind audit help checks to the bounded selection decoder** Repair the containing CI failure from PR 3186 without restoring last-member-wins parsing. Keep the explicit array, request bound, URL validation before mutation and organisation-scoped replacement checks; runtime selection semantics remain covered by the existing handler tests.
