Three defects that the v6.4.3-rc.1 cut exposed, each with its contract note
and proof:
1. scripts/release-preflight-worker.sh published the smoke stack on host port
7655 and probed it directly. pulse-dev also hosts the maintainer's dogfood
Pulse instance on 127.0.0.1:7655 and a second instance on 17655, so the
release smoke failed to start after every other stage had passed on the
qualified head. The worker now honours PULSE_RELEASE_PREFLIGHT_E2E_PORT,
otherwise takes the first candidate host port pair it verifies free and
fails fast when none is, probes health and update status on that port, and
hands Playwright the same base URL.
2. .github/workflows/publish-helm-chart.yml resolved the chart version before
checking out the repository, but de41ea1883 made that step call
scripts/write_github_output.py, so every chart publish since failed with
"can't open file". Run 33580123246 hit it after all other staging passed;
the checkout now precedes the resolver.
3. docs/release-control/control_plane.json maps the 6.4.3 version prefix to
release/v6.4. Run 33579042375, dispatched from main, failed inside the
compiler dispatch because main advanced one minute after the pipeline
pinned its source SHA; with pull requests landing every few minutes a
candidate cannot hold its SHA between prepare and compile. release/v6.4
was created from main at the exact-SHA-qualified commit 56e51e622e and
carries these same fixes; v6.4.3-rc.1 published from it.
The deployment-installability contract records the worker port and toolchain
rules and the Helm checkout order; release_preflight_test.py and
build_release_assets_test.go pin them.
Contract-Neutral: Freezes mock sampler cadence only inside the existing cache regression and updates release-preflight assertions to recognize current conditional runner routing and shard-degradation behavior; runtime and public contracts are unchanged.
Change-source: pulse-maintainer
* Make release dry-run diagnostics fail closed
Select the installed Chromium project with retries disabled, replace the unconditional pass with fail-closed API and rendered-UI readiness assertions, retain actionable runtime evidence, and guard the release workflow contract against regression.
Contract-Neutral: Release diagnostic and workflow verification hardening only; no product runtime contract changes.
* Expose stable E2E failure identities
Project Playwright JUnit failures into bounded GitHub annotations so repeated stable-tier failures can be diagnosed without rerunning or weakening the gate. Keep the full reports and runtime logs as the forensic record, and cover annotation parsing and escaping with deterministic tests.
Contract-Neutral: This changes CI failure observability only and does not alter product runtime behavior, stable-tier membership, retries, or verdict semantics.

The core.bare=true corruption of the shared repository recurred on
2026-07-17: a script that runs scratch git commands while the pre-commit
environment from a linked worktree (absolute GIT_DIR) is still exported
re-initializes the REAL repository as bare. a0fda6b26 fixed four helper
test files but missed two spots in scripts/release_control/internal:
- verify_commit_slice_test.py's git() helper only popped GIT_INDEX_FILE,
so its scratch 'git init' calls re-init the real repo when GIT_DIR is
inherited. It now scrubs via the shared repo_file_io.strip_local_git_env.
- verify_commit_slice.py's production git_env() kept the inherited hook
env even when unit tests patch REPO_ROOT to a temporary repository,
pointing git plumbing (including index writes) at the wrong repo. It
now scrubs in the test-patched branch only, matching format_staged_go.
Regression teeth:
- verify_commit_slice_test.py gains a canary test that exports the real
hook env shape (absolute GIT_DIR + GIT_INDEX_FILE, no GIT_WORK_TREE —
with GIT_WORK_TREE set the corruption does not reproduce) against a
scratch repo + linked worktree and asserts core.bare stays false.
- repo_file_io_test.py (runs in the pre-commit battery) gains a static
guard failing any release-control *_test.py that runs scratch
'git init' without referencing strip_local_git_env.
- The six hand-rolled 4-var pop loops from a0fda6b26 migrate to the
shared strip_local_git_env helper so the guard enforces one pattern.
Verified: full release-control battery green; every touched test file
also green with GIT_DIR/GIT_INDEX_FILE pointed at a canary repo's linked
worktree, canary config and status intact afterward.
- bump release, Docker, and Helm metadata to 6.0.1
- add committed v6.0.1 patch release notes and changelog
- allow stable patch hotfix releases without a fabricated same-version prerelease tag
Manifest-backed MCP tools, prompts, and resources with surface affordance contracts; agent capability manifest and governance projection; API contract tests and capability route projection; operations-loop and intelligence-funnel telemetry; release-control subsystem documentation, registry, and tooling; licensing and configuration.

Record the v5.1.34 to v6.0.0-rc.6 proof result for the upgrade-continuity gate.
Cut three surfaces that nagged Community users without explicit feature
engagement: the Dashboard RelayOnboardingCard paywall, the app-wide
ActiveUseTrialNudge (already dead code with no render sites), and the
SetupCompletionPanel "Monitor from Anywhere" Relay trial block.
Feature-gated discovery that fires only when a user clicks a locked
feature (alert investigate, history ranges, Patrol AI modes, Settings
panels) is intentionally left alone — those are user-initiated, not
blanket funnels.
Governance cascade: cloud-paid.md extends the Settings no-funnel rule
to Dashboard and setup completion; registry.json, status.json readiness
assertions RA5/RA18, frontend-primitives/storage-recovery/
performance-and-scalability contracts, the high-risk verification
matrix, the relay registration proof script, the subsystem lookup
tests, and the obsolete integration spec are all scrubbed of
references to the removed files. Blocked-record regenerated against
current VERSION=6.0.0-rc.2 so the promotion-policy test no longer
diffs on a stale rc.1 artifact.
