Patrol treated every guest's cluster-resources memory as cache-inclusive,
so an LXC without a linked Pulse agent, which only ever gets that source,
lost memory pressure entirely: no triage flag, forecast or anomaly at 97%
of its limit, a "may include reclaimable cache" caveat in the seed, and
older memory alerts sent to model review every run with any resolve
verdict discarded.
The premise holds for QEMU but not for LXC. Proxmox's container mem is
cgroup usage with page cache already subtracted: PVE::CGroup's
get_memory_stat returns memory.current minus memory.stat file (cgroup v2)
or usage_in_bytes minus total_cache (v1), PVE::LXC::vmstatus reports it
as mem, and pvestatd feeds that value to the RRD that /cluster/resources
reads. A QEMU guest's listing mem is the host's view of guest RAM and
does count the guest's cache.
Qualification now takes the guest kind. A current, dated cluster-resources
reading establishes pressure for a Proxmox container and stays unknown for
QEMU; status-mem, status-freemem and derived-total-minus-used stay
cache-inclusive for both, and retained readings still cannot prove
pressure. The typed read state derives the kind from the resource type,
so Patrol, the observer and AI queries agree. The calculateLXCMemory
comment that called the listing value cache-inclusive is corrected.
Contract-Neutral: monitoring change is a corrected comment in calculateLXCMemory and its tests; LXC memory collection and sources are unchanged
The latest memory report is about a higher steady baseline, not a leak. Keep steady regressions actionable, separate unlike process ages and CPU savings from RSS recovery, and preserve existing evidence without another restart, downgrade or profile. Keep the shipped guides, optional intake and regression controls aligned.
Contract-Neutral: Clarifies interpretation of existing memory reports and documentation only; no runtime, API, route, collection recipe, label synchronizer or subsystem contract changes.

A TERM-resistant reader can survive the old timeout after its collection shell exits. Apply the eight-second hard deadline to the entire read-only group, buffer the complete sample and withhold raw reader errors on failure. Retain ordinary privileges, unavailable results and no workload mutation.
Contract-Neutral: Documentation and copied-recipe safety verification only; no runtime collection, memory accounting, service lifecycle or API contract changes.

The reviewed guest-memory consumer repair moved warning strings out of Patrol into unifiedresources. Preserve the documentation assertions and verify Patrol still delegates qualification and display to that shared formatter. This reconciles the combined batch without changing runtime or guidance.
Contract-Neutral: Test-only integration reconciliation; guest memory, documentation, access and collection contracts are unchanged.

Separate hypervisor footprint, Linux availability and process RSS in existing troubleshooting, FAQ and threshold help. Keep comparisons on the same guest, kernel, time and units, preserve unknown or retained evidence, and avoid diagnostic probes, restarts, cache drops and blanket suppression.
Contract-Neutral: Documentation and source-bound help regressions only; memory collection, Patrol decisions, alert controls and access contracts are unchanged.

Keep the sampled counters and process identity behind a read-only deadline. Hanging readers and a missing timeout utility produce an unavailable result, while privacy, PID-reuse and measured-zero controls remain. Preserve the ten-second test assertion and clean up the test-owned shell on timeout.
Contract-Neutral: Documentation and copied-recipe verification only; no runtime collection, memory accounting, service lifecycle or API contract changes.

Distinguish LXC/container memory charts from Pulse RSS, heap and virtual memory. Add a bounded five-counter sample with process identity readback, failure preservation and private-data cautions. Exercise the copied recipe with synthetic failures and an owned Linux child, preserving the existing CPU/write recipes.

Contract-Neutral: Documentation and executable recipe checks only; no runtime or public-contract delta.
